St Charles Borromeo, cardinal of Milan

Charles Borromeo (1538–84) was archbishop of Milan and a cardinal. He was related to the Medici family and was favoured by his uncle, Pope Pius IV, supporting him in reopening the Council of Trent. He was a principal figure in the Counter Reformation.
