Another strong figure by the firm of of A.O. Hemming from 1911, which characterize the glass in this church. Text below the figure reads: 'Behold the handmaid of the Lord'.
Erected in memory of Mary Grace Williams of Parrog House, Newport, by her daughter Margaret Gwendolen Williams August 1911. One of a pair with St Luke, opposite on the north wall of the chancel.
The Virgin Mary depicted at the moment of her acceptance of God's choice of her to be the mother of the Son of God. This is the western Catholic equivalent depiction of the eastern Theotokos, Mary as the God-Bearer.
