loggia
The design is closely related to The Adoration of the Child, by Andrea della Robbia (after 1477), now in the National Gallery of Art, Washington. The design is reversed from the the original, and the dove of the Holy Spirit has been added above.
Inspired the vision of St Bridget of Sweden. Christ and the Virgin kneeling on the earth emphasise both their humanity and humility.
