St James and St John the Baptist

St James and St John the Baptist

Photo © Martin Crampin, Imaging the Bible in Wales

probably early twentieth century

Two-light window with standing figures. James is dressed as a pilgrim and John the Baptist holds a cross which bears the text 'Ecce Agnus Dei' (Behold the lamb of God). An angel in a quatrefoil above holds the text 'Looking unto Jesus', a reference to Hebrews 12:2.

Church of St James, Cardiff
north wall of the north aisle

Given in memory of Elizabeth Campbell by her sister.

The conservative style of much of Burlison & Grylls' work makes it difficult to date the window, which was probably made in the first decade or two of the twentieth century.
