St Alban and St David
Photo © Martin Crampin, Imaging the Bible in Wales
about 1920
Two-light window with standing figures. Alban is holds a crucifix and martyr's palm, while David has the dove of the spirit at his ear, and holds a staff and a book.
firm/studio: Robert J. Newbery
Church of St Nicholas and St John, Monkton, Pembrokeshire
south wall of the nave (window number: sVII)
One of two windows given, the whole dedication reading: 'To the Glory of God and in grateful recognition of the men of this Parish who volunteered in the Great War. And in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for King and Country. These windows are erected by Friends'.
The windows are very similar to the work of Percy Bacon Brothers, who made the windows for the north chancel chapel and tower at about the same date. However, they are not listed among the work of the firm in the British Society of Master Glass-Painters list of 1930, and are more like the work of Robert Newbery.
