The Virgin Mary and the Risen Christ
Photo © Martin Crampin, Imaging the Bible in Wales
about 1898-1900
Two-light window. An angel holds a banner over the figures: 'I am the Resurrection'.
firm/studio: A. L. Moore & Son
Church of St David, Carreg-wen, Pembrokeshire
south wall of the chancel
Standing figure of Mary, holding her emblem the lily, indicates with her left hand the standing figure of the (?) resurrected Christ. Is this window a reference to the ancient belief (not recorded in the gospels) that Christ's first risen appearance was to his mother?
