St David and St Illtud
1893
Two-light window with standing figures of David and Illtud. Illtud is instructing a boy by his side.
firm/studio: Burlison & Grylls
Church of St Illtyd, Oxwich, Swansea
east wall of the chancel (window number: I)
The depiction of Illtud instructing a child is one of three such depictions known in Wales, all in Glamorgan and all attributed to Burlison & Grylls. According to the Life of Illtud, David was among Illtud's scolares (scholars) at Llantwit Major, and it seems likely that David is depicted here as the child alongside Illtud.
