St David and St Gwenfaen
Photo © Martin Crampin
1907
Two-light window with standing figures of saints.
size: 39 cm (width of each light)
Church of St Gwenfaen, Rhoscolyn, Anglesey
north wall of the nave (window number: nIII)
The maker of the window is uncertain. It is not by Burlison & Grylls, as suggested in the Buildings of Wales: Gwynedd, and has some similarities with the work of J.C.N. Bewsey, whose work is found on the far side of Anglesey at Beaumaris.
Given in memory of Francis Marshall (died 1907), Avril Irene Marshall (died 1902) and Irene Marshall (died 1905).
The window is one of only two known images of Gwenfaen; another is found at Fairbourne.
