Given in memory of Edward Stradling Nicholl Carne (1849–62). The arms of the Stradlings are shown in the left-hand light, the arms of the Carnes, depicting the pelican in her piety, are on the right.
There is some confusion over the identity of Donat. The church guide states that the name comes from Donams, a monk from Ireland or Scotland, who became Bishop of Fiesole, in Italy. He died in 874 and was a patron saint of travellers, which would explain the scene below.
