James Forsyth (1826-1910)
British Sculptor. James Forsyth was born in Kelso in the Scottish borders, and he and his brother William were apprentice stonemasons and woodcarvers in Edinburgh before moving to London. Their rise to prominence was aided by their work for George Gilbert Scott at Eastnor Church. The sculptural work of James Forsyth is found in many churches, cathedrals and large private houses.
