Built in 1869-70 and designed by John Middleton of Cheltenham and richly furnished by Boultons and Co., also of Cheltenham. The building and ornamentation was funded by the Lloyd family of Bronwydd, the principal local landowners, with some assistance from the Tylers of Mount Gernos, another local landowning family.
